OPV:

  1. A vaccine is a mode of acquired immunity administered against a specific potential disease.
  2. It is expanded as an oral poliovirus vaccine.
  3. It is administered against the polio virus disease.
  4. These are administered in two ways, IPV (inactivated poliovirus vaccine) and OPV (oral poliovirus vaccine).
  5. IPV is given either through the arm or leg.
  6. OPV is given through the mouth.
  7. In the case of infection, OPV produces antibodies to all three types of poliovirus in the blood.
  8. It protects the person against polio paralysis by reducing poliovirus transmission to the nervous system.
