Solution
Pepsinogen:
Pepsinogen is the proenzyme of pepsin which means that it is the inactive form of pepsin.
Pepsinogen is secreted by the chief cells in the stomach.
The parietal cells secrete hydrochloric acid.
The acidic environment created by hydrochloric acid converts the pepsinogen into its active form, pepsin.
Pepsin helps in the digestion of proteins by breaking down polypeptides into smaller peptides.
