The growth of plant tissues in an artificial environment (or culture medium) outside the parent organism (in vitro) is called as tissue culture.
It involves the following important steps:
(a) Removal of tissues from the parent organism.
(b) Inoculation of explant (excised tissue) in the suitable culture medium.
(c) Incubation of excised tissues in conducive environment.
(d) Maintenance of culture for future use.
