The transfer of pollen grains from an anther to the stigma of same of another flower is called pollination.
It occurs in sexually reproducing plants.
It can be carried out in two ways:
1. Cross-pollination:
The process that involes the transfer of pollen from an anther of one flower to the stigma of another flower is called cross-pollination.
Cross-pollination can occur by various biotic polinators like bees, bats, etc, abiotic pollinators like wind, water, air and can also be done by artificial ways.
2. Self-pollination:
The process that involves the transfer of pollen from an anther of a flower to the stigma of the same flower is called self-pollination.
In self-pollinating plants, pollinators are not required.
