What is positive and negative mycelium?

Open in App
Solution

1) Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae.
2) Fungi, including yeast, may also be detected with a Gram stain
3) Fungi who have this thick layer of peptidoglycan in their cell walls hold on to a violet colored dye used in the Gram stain test and are therefore called “Gram positive”.
4) Those that do not are called “Gram negative”.
