Sprinkler system:

1. It is a modern method of irrigation.
2. In this type of system, the perpendicular pipes, having rotating nozzles on top, are joined to the main pipeline at regular intervals.
3. When water is allowed to flow through the main pipe under high pressure with the help of a pump, it escapes from the rotating nozzles and gets sprinkled on the crops as if it is raining.

Advantages of a sprinkler system:

1. ​It helps in the conservation of soil.
2. It increases soil productivity.
3. It protects the crops from extreme frost or temperature.
4. Fertiliser and insecticide application can be done by the sprinkler system.
5. Prevents water excessive loss compared to flood system of irrigation.
6. It is very useful for sandy soil and uneven land.
