Succession : The composition and structure of community constantly change in a response to the changing environmental conditions. This gradual change in the species composition of a given area that leads to the establishment of climax community in the end is called as ecological succession.
Types of succession : Succession has been classified as follows-
(i) Primary succession- This takes a long time to complete which can be thousand years or more.
(ii) Secondary succession- This takes less time for completion which is 50-200 years.
