Question

What Is The 2nd Stage Of Hemostasis?

Open in App
Solution

Hemostasis:

  1. It is the natural action where the blood is stopped from an injury and damage is repaired.
  2. When a blood vessel is injured, it triggers a chain of events that occur in quick succession.
  3. Vasoconstriction, or vascular spasms, is the initial step.
  4. Smooth muscles contract, allowing for minimal blood loss. Platelet plug formation is the second stage.
  5. Certain chemicals are released by platelets, causing them to stay connected and form a tentative seal over the vessel wall lesion.
