Ampulla:

  1. It is a part of the fallopian tube in the female reproductive system.
  2. This is the longest part of the oviduct with 5 cm in length and 1 cm in diameter.
  3. The ampulla is a very important part as the fertilization usually takes place in the ampullary isthmic junction.
  4. It has an isthmus towards one end which leads to the uterus and the infundibulum on another which has a finger-like projection attached to it called fimbriae.
