Open in App
Solution

  1. Haemophilia and colour blindness are sex-linked disorders found in human beings.
  2. Sex-linked diseases: They are transmitted down through the generations via the X or Y chromosome.

Haemophilia:

  1. It is a sex-linked recessive disorder
  2. It affects the blood’s ability to clot.
  3. People suffering from this disease also suffer from internal bleeding.
  4. The allele of this disease is carried on the X chromosome.
  5. Females (XX) possess two X chromosomes.
  6. Females get the disease when they have two copies of the hemophilia allele.
  7. Males (XY) have one X chromosome, so if a male inherits the hemophilia allele, he suffers from the disease.

Colour blindness:

  1. It is a sex-linked recessive disorder.
  2. It is an inability to differentiate between red and green colors.
  3. The allele of this disease is carried on the X chromosome.
  4. Males (XY) have one X chromosome.
  5. If a male inherits the color-blindness allele, he suffers from the disease.
  6. If a female inherits one copy of the colour-blindness allele, she is a carrier of the disease.
  7. Females get the disease when they have two copies of the color-blindness allele.
