Question

What is the condition for a force to do work on a body ?

Open in App
Solution

The condition of force to do some work is that the force should be along the direction of displacement.

work is done when the object moves through a certain distance in a particular direction after the force had been applied on it.

Work Done = Force x Distance x Cos theta

  1. For work to be done, the force must be applied and must not be zero.
  2. The body on which the force is applied must move in one direction or the other and hence the S must not be zero.
  3. The force must not be applied at 90 degrees angle upon the object as Cos 90 equals zero.
