Solution

Vestibular apparatus:

  1. The vestibular system is a balance-related inner-ear apparatus.
  2. The vestibule and semicircular canals are two structures of the bone labyrinth of the inner ear, plus the structures of the membranous labyrinth contained inside them, make up the vestibular system.
  3. The otolith organs are the two membrane sacs of the vestibule, the saccule and the utricle.
  4. Every sac has a unique patch of sensory cells called a macula on its inner surface that maintains the orientation of the head in connection to the vertical.
  5. Each macula is made up of neuroepithelium, which is comprised of supporting and sensory cells, and also a basement membrane, nerve endings, nerve fibres, and underlying connective tissue.
  6. The nerve fibres arise from the superior division of the vestibulocochlear nerve, also known as the vestibular division.
