What is the coordination number of the central point in the following case.Remember that these are not actual particles. They are just the centres of the particles called lattice points. So they may not be touching.

If you thought that since the points are not touching we cannot determine coordination number, you were mistaken.

The points that we see here are lattice points and not the actual particles. So here we just need to see if they are surrounding. Actually they would touch.

Anyway, the number of points surrounding is 8, which becomes the coordination number.
