Question

What is the correct order of the stages of translation?

Open in App
Solution

Translation:

  1. The process of making a protein from the information contained in a molecule of messenger RNA is known as translation (mRNA).
  2. The genetic code is a collection of principles that dictates how an mRNA sequence is to be translated into the 20-letter code of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins, during translation.
  3. The genetic code is made up of codons, which are three-letter nucleotide pairings that each correspond to a distinct amino acid or stop signal.

Stages of translation:

  1. Initiation: To begin translation, the ribosome on the mRNA must be assembled in the correct direction and the start codon must be found.
  2. Elongation: Elongation is when the polypeptide chain gets longer.
  3. Termination: Termination is the final step in the translation process. When a stop codon (UAA, UAG, or UGA) in the mRNA enters the A site, it causes termination.

The correct order of the stages of translation: InitiationElongationTermination.
