Difference between an expression and an equation:

Expression Equation
An expression is an incomplete phrase that consists of numbers, variables, and arithmetic operations between them.An equation is a mathematical statement in which two expressions are equal to each other.
Expression is only one-sided. It contains variable, numbers on one side.The equation has two sides. A left-hand side and right-hand side are connected by an equal sign.
Does not contain any relational symbol.Contains the equal sign between two sides.
Example: 2x-5(3x+7)Example: 3x+12=0
