What is the difference between DNA damage and mutation?
DNA damage:
DNA damage causes a change in the chemical structure of DNA and halts the replication process.
Mutation:
Mutation refers to the process where there is a change in the sequence of base pairs of DNA.
Differences between DNA damage and mutation:
DNA damage | Mutation |

|
2. Most damage to DNA is repaired by removal of the damaged bases followed by resynthesis of the excised region. | 2. Mutations may be spontaneous in nature. |
3. Example: Alkylating agents. | 3. Example: Down syndrome. |
