What is the difference between diffusion current and drift current?
Diffusion current | Drift current |
1. This current is usually observed in the junction diodes or semiconductor devices. | 1. This can be found in all the conducting materials where the current flows as the flow of electrons. |
2. Due to the concentration gradient across p and n side the current in the biased circuit flows from p type to n type which is called the diffusion current. | 2. Due to the flow of charge carriers inside the diode, the current produced is due to the presence of the electric field. |
3. The amount of charge decreases due to distribution of charges. | 3. The amount of charge remains constant. |
