The tendency of an atom of an element present in a molecule to attract shared electron pair more towards itself is called electronegativity. Tendency of an atom of an element to lose one or more electrons to form a positively charged ion is called electropositivity.
Electronegativity increases along a period and decreases on moving down the group.Electropositivity decreases along a period and increases on moving down the group.
