What is the difference between predation and parasitism? Give examples. [3]

Predation Parasitism
i) Predation is an interaction between members of two species in which members of one species capture, kill and eat up members of other species. i) Parasitism is a relationship between two living organism of different species in which one organism called parasite obtains its food directly from another living organism called host.
ii) In predation, prey specificity is less common. ii) In parasitism, host specificity is more common.
iii) In predation, predator feeds over the prey from outside. iii) In parasitism, parasite may feed over the host from inside or outside.
Example : A hawk predating over a small bird like sparrow Example : Fleas or ticks that live on dogs and cats are parasites.

2 marks for two differences and 1 mark for examples.
