Question

What is the difference between the density and relative density of a substance

Open in App
Solution

We say

density=mass/volume

relative density = density of substance /density of the specimen

Mass per unit volume of a substance is called density. The ratio between density of a substance and density of water is called relative density.

Units:
Density have a unit -kilogram per meter cube
Relative density has no units because it is the ratio between the similar physical quantities
