Question

What is the difference between yeast artificial chromosome and yeast plasmid?

Open in App
Solution

YACs are one type of yeast plasmid vectors. Other types of yeast plasmid vectors include episomal plasmids, replicating plasmids, integrative plasmids, and centromere plasmids. What makes YACs unique from the others is that they have their own centromeres and telomeres, so they can be used as entire chromosomes.
