What is the difference between zoospore and zygospore?
Zoospore:
A zoospore is an asexual spore that moves by using a flagellum. These spores, also known as swarm spores.
Zygospore:
A zygospore is a diploid reproductive stage. The nuclear fusion of haploid cells produces zygospores.
Difference between zoospore and zygospore:
Zygospore | Zoospore |
1. A zygospore is a cell of fungus and algae generated by the fusing of two identical gametes. | 1. A spore of algae, fungus, or protozoa capable of swimming with the help of the flagellum. |
2. It's a kind of sexual spore. | 2. It's an asexual spore. |
3. It is naturally diploid. | 3. It is haploid in nature. |
4. It is made up of an extremely thick spore wall. | 4. They are bare and have no spore wall. |
5. They are really dark. | 5. They are hyaline in nature. |
6. They are immobile. | 6. They are motile and have more than one type of flagella. |
