  2. The nervous system consists of the brain, nerves, spinal cord, ganglia, and other receptor organs that receive and interpret stimuli.
  3. The brain is the control center of the nervous system and the spinal cord receives and collects the signal to and from the brain.

Effect of alcohol and caffeine on the nervous system:

  1. Alcohol affects the nervous system in many ways, contracts brain tissues, depresses the central nervous system, and destroys brain cells.
  2. Alcohol has a direct neurotoxic effect on cortical neurons.
  3. It is permeable to cell membrane easily and enters the bloodstream and further reduces the functioning of the nervous system.
  4. Caffeine acts as a stimulant for the central nervous system, it makes the body more alert by inhibiting the hormone melatonin and promoting adrenalin.
  5. Although, high doses of caffeine can cause anxiety and nervousness.
