  3. Nicotine releases the hormone epinephrine and norepinephrine which stimulates the nervous system.
  4. Extreme amount of nicotine leads to increased secretion of neurotransmitters linked with pleasure.
  5. Nicotine affects the structural integrity of subcortical brain regions.
  6. Nicotine causes an increase in blood pressure, heart rate, and deregulation of cardiac autonomic function.
