What is the end result of DNA replication?

Open in App
Solution

DNA Replication:

  1. DNA replication is also called DNA amplification because DNA will amplify its number or double its number.
  2. It is a very important process in all living organisms that takes place in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells and the nucleoid region in prokaryotic cells.
  3. It is a biological polymerization reaction for making multiple copies of DNA in cells.
  4. Before it undergoes cell division it must first generate its copy by replicating itself, hence it occurs in the S phase during the cell cycle before cell division.
  5. DNA replication process involves three steps, namely initiation, elongation, and termination.
  6. And it is an enzyme catalyzing reaction, the one important enzyme for the polymerization step is DNA polymerase.
  7. Hence, end Result of DNA Replication is two strands of DNA consisting of one new and one old chain of nucleotides, this type of replication is known as Semi conservative method of replication.
