Question

What is the equation of Y-axis ? Hence, find the point of intersection of Y-axis and the line y = 3x + 2

Open in App
Solution

The equation of Y-axis is x = 0
Now, we have to find the point of intersection of Y-axis,
i.e., x = 0 ...(1)
and y = 3x + 2 ...(2)
Substituting the value x = 0 from (1) in (2), we get:

y = 3×0 + 2 y = 0 + 2 y = 2

Thus, the point of intersection is (0, 2).
