What is the formula of brine?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Brine is a saturated solution of sodium chloride (NaCl) and water (H2O).
  2. The freezing point of the brine solution is lower than the pure water because of depression in the freezing point (Colligative property) i.e., when any solute is added in the pure solvent (here water) there is depression in the freezing point of the solution(solute+solvent).
  3. It naturally occurs by the evaporation of saline water but can also be generated in the mining of sodium chloride.
  4. Uses- Brine solution is used in preservative materials, and used to cool (quench) the steel.
