What is the function of secretory protein in IgA?
Helps in the secretion of IgA as a dimer
IgA is the predominant immunoglobulin in bodily secretions such as breast milk, saliva, tears and mucus. In serum, IgA exists predominantly as a monomer, but the ‘secretory IgA’, that is the IgA in breast milk and other fluids is a dimer, connected by a secretory protein that enables its secretion.
