Trophoblast is the outermost layer of the blastula stage of mammals including humans. They plays role in implantation of embryo, the layer secretes human chorionic gonadotropin that digest the endometrium and promotes the implantation. It keeps or maintains the corpus luteum to release progesterone that detects and maintains the pregnancy. It also allows the exchange of nutrients and gases between the maternal and foetal circulation.
