Question

What is the importance of bacterium thermus aqaticus in PCR

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Thermus aquaticus produces Taq polymerase enzyme which is stable even under 105 degree temperature, which enable us to exploit this enzyme in the technique called Polymerase Chain reaction. The enzyme stability and withstand higher temperature ensures its use in the PCR machine. Regarding fedility, it is not having proof reading activities, as like Pyrcoccus furians.
