Solution: The Japanese Shinkansen system is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan. Initially, it was built to connect distant Japanese regions with Tokyo, the capital, to aid economic growth and development.
In India we have Mumbai-Ahemdabad bullet train which is a good example of inspiration from Japanese technologies.

Relations between Japan and India:
  • Apart from this Japanese expertise has helped spur several urban development initiatives in India.
  • The Government of Japan also offers 20 seats to Indian students for master's degree in University of Japan for serving Indian Railways.
  • The Governments of Japan and India also announced collaboration to create a pool of skilled manpower for manufacturing in India. Japan announced to train 30,000 Indians at the Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing (JIM) to provide Japanese style manufacturing skills.
  • Not only this, in 2017, the first four JIMs were started in Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
