Giant kelp:

  2. Giant kelp resembles a plant but is not a plant. It obtains essential nutrients directly from the water by the structure known as a holdfast.
  3. It grows very fast and in a single day, it can grow up to 2 feet.
  4. Humans use it as food and the chemicals derived from it are used to manufacture fertilizers, toothpaste, used in pharmaceutical industries, etc.
  5. Its fast growth rate and natural means of generating energy (from the sun) make it an ideal species to grow on the sea farms.
