The flagellum is the locomotory structure of motile bacteria.
These are hair-like appendages originating from the basal body coming out through the cell walls. These help in movement of bacteria.
It has three distinct parts: the filament, the hook (sheath), and the basal body. The hook and filament are made up of protein subunit and the protein of filament is a flagellin.
