Bacteria: Bacteria are unicellular organisms belonging to the prokaryotic group where the organisms lack a few organelles and a true nucleus.

Locomotory organ of Bacteria:

  1. The flagellum is the locomotory structure of motile bacteria.
  2. These are hair-like appendages originating from the basal body coming out through the cell walls. These help in movement of bacteria.
  3. It has three distinct parts: the filament, the hook (sheath), and the basal body. The hook and filament are made up of protein subunit and the protein of filament is a flagellin.
