Haemophilia is caused due to genetic mutation.
It involves the mutation of genes that are essential for the clotting of blood.
The clotting of blood is a complex phenomenon involving 13 different proteins. They are termed as factors from I to XIII.
Haemophilia A is caused due to deficiency of factor VIII and Haemophilia B is caused due to deficiency of factor IX. Haemophilia C is caused due to deficiency in factor XI.
