Question

What Is The Main Difference Between Mitosis And Cytokinesis?

Open in App
Solution

Mitosis:

  1. Mitosis is the type of division in which chromosomes replicate and become equally distributed both quantitatively and quantitatively into two daughter nuclei so that the daughter cells come to have the same number and type of chromosomes.
  2. Mitosis consists of two steps: Karyokinesis (division of nucleus) and Cytokinesis (a division of the cytoplasm).

Cytokinesis:

  1. Cytokinesis is the division of the cytoplasm of a cell into two daughter cells after the nuclear division or karyokinesis.
  2. Cytokinesis is followed by karyokinesis (a division of the nucleus).

Mitosis is a type of cell division in which a whole cell divides while Cytokinesis is one of the steps of mitosis in which the Cytoplasm of the cell divides.
