The two female sex hormones are estrogen and progesterone which are produced mainly by the ovaries .
These hormones influence a woman’s reproductive health, body weight, hair growth, bone growth, etc.
Estrogen is the most well-known hormone which assists the growth of the breast in puberty, helps in the growth of the uterus lining during the menstrual cycle, and maintains bone strength.
Two different forms of estrogen hormone are namely: estriol (E3) and estradiol (E2).
Estradiol :
Estradiol is responsible for the development of female secondary sexual characteristics such as the breasts, widening of the hips, and a feminine pattern of fat distribution in women .
It is important in the development and maintenance of female reproductive tissues such as the mammary glands, uterus, and vagina during puberty, adulthood, and pregnancy.
Estriol is considered the weaker form of the hormone estrogen, whereas estradiol is a stronger and more effective form.
