What is the Nucleus? Explain the structure of eukaryotic nucleus with suitable diagram.

The nucleus is a central organelle in the eukaryotic cells. It contains the genetic material which regulates the metabolic activities of the cell, so it is also called as the brain of the cell. The structure of the Nucleus shows:
  1. a double membranous nuclear envelope
  2. nuclear pores that allow entry and exit of material. It has a septum
  3. the jelly-like fluid called nucleoplasm or karyolymph
  4. the thread like chromatin network.
  5. dense chromatin is called heterochromatin and light chromatin is called euchromatin.
