Question

What is the number of carbon atoms present in 22 gram carbon dioxide?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1:

Number of carbon atoms = massmolarmass×NA×atomicity

NA=Avogadro′snumber=6.022×1023

Atomicity of CO2 = 3 atoms ( 1 C atom + 2 O atoms)

Step 2:

Number of carbon atoms in 22 g CO2=2244×6.022×1023×3

=0.5×6.022×1023×3

=1.5×6.022×1023

=1.5×NA CO2 is9.033×1023

Hence, the number of carbon atoms in 22 g
