Calcium exhibits +2 oxidation state, the anion hypochlorite will be in the form OCl
Now using this hypochlorite ion we need to calculate the oxidation state of Chlorine by using the rules to find oxidation state. We know that Oxygen usually has an oxidation state of -2 (except in peroxides and elemental states). Let the oxidation state of Chlorine be 'x'. The overall oxidation state of the hypochlorite anion is -1.

Therefore, (-2) 1 + x = -1. Solving, we get the oxidation state of chlorine is +1.
