Solution

The correct option is A

21 %

Gypsum (CaSO4.2H2O) is a hydrated salt and contains water of crystallisation.

H2O = 2×1 + 16 = 18 g

2H2O = 2×18 = 36 g

CaSO4 = 40 + 32 + 64 = 136 g

Molecular weight of CaSO4.2H2O = 136 + 36 = 172 g

Percentage = 36172×100 = 20.93%

CaSO4.2H2O = 20.93%
