What is the perimeter of the figure ACDE?
16 + 4√2 cm
Perimeter of ACDE = AC + CD + DE + AE
Using Pythagoras theorem,
AC = √AB2+BC2
AC = √42+42 = √32 = 4√2 cm
AD = √AC2+CD2
AD = √(4√2)2+42 = √48 = 4√3 cm
AE = √AD2+DE2
AE = √(4√3)2+42 = √64 = 8 cm
∴ Perimeter of ACDE = AC + CD + DE + AE
= 4√2 + 4 + 4 + 8
= 16 + 4√2 cm
