Solution

The correct option is C 6.99
The solution of NaOH is very dilute, where water dissociation needs to be considered to calculate the total[OH] ions present in the solution.
Given, [OH] from NaOH = 109 M

H2O (l)H+ (aq)+OH (aq)
From H2O ,
[OH]=[H+] = x
[OH] from H2O = (109+x) M
We know,
[H+][OH]=1014x(109+x)=1014x2+109x1014=0x=109±1018+4×10142x=9.95×108
For calculating pH :
Remember pH= log10[H+]
pH= log10[9.95×108]=7.002pH+pOH=14pOH=147.002=6.99
