What is the problem with the periodisation of the Indian history that James Mill offers?
The problems with the periodisation of Indian History that James Mill offers are explained below:
1. James Mill has put Indian History into three periods – Hindu, Muslim and British, and showed superiority of British rule over Hindus and Muslims.
2. It is not correct to do periodic divisions of the Indian history on the basis of religion of the rulers as many different religions coexisted peacefully when the country was ruled by Hindu kings..
3. He thought that all Asian societies were at a lower level of civilisation when compared to Europe because of religious intolerance, caste taboos and superstitious practices.
