Question

What is the ratio between the number of molecules in 2g of hydrogen and 32g of oxygen? Explain your answer.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
Number of molecules in 2 gm H2
molar mass of H = 2 gm

2 gm H2 = 6.023×1023 molecules

molar mass of O2 = 32 gm
number of molecules =6.023×1023
Ratio = 1:1
This is so because according to mole concept one gram molecule of any substance contains equal number of molecules as there are present in 0.012 kg of C . This always equal to Avogadro's number when the mass of any substance is equal to its atomic mass or molar mass then the number of molecules will always be equal to avogadro's number
