What is the relation between the weight of an object on the moon and that on the earth?

Open in App
Solution

By using formula, F = GMmd2

The mass of the moon is 1100 times and its radius 14 times that of the earth. As a result, the gravitational attraction on the moon is about one sixth when compared to that on the earth. Hence, the weight of an object on the moon is 16 th of the weight on the earth.
