Hemichordata:

  1. Hemichordata is a group of wormlike marine invertebrates which are related to both chordates and echinoderms.
  2. These are wormlike marine animals such as sea cucumber, and starfish, and have proboscis outer extended growth for excretion.
  3. The Hemichordates are made up of three classes: Enteropneusta, Pterobranchia, and Planctosphaeroidea.
  4. Hemichordates have Stomochord which is a flexible, hollow tube that helps in providing support to the body. Function similar to notochord in Chordata.
  5. Example: Acorn worm.
  6. Gills are the respiratory organ of Hemichordata.
