Seminal vesicles:

  1. The seminal vesicle is the accessory gland in human males whose secretion is used to activate the sperms.
  2. It is also called the uterus masculine.
  3. There is only one pair of Seminal vesicles in man.
  4. Its secretion consists of fructose, ascorbic acid, prostaglandin, and enzymes.
  5. The function of fructose is to provide energy to the sperm, the secretions poured by seminal vesicles are alkaline and its pH is about 7.4.

Prostate gland:

  1. The prostate gland is a bilobed gland that surrounds the urethra close to its origin in the bladder.
  2. The secretions poured by the prostate are alkaline, as it passes through the urethra.
  3. Its position is near the anterior end of the urethra.
  4. The prostate gland secretes a white fluid, which forms 25 percent of semen.
  5. The secretions contain phosphate, lysozymes, spermin, fibrinolysin, and citrate.
  6. The secretions poured by this gland activate the sperms.
  7. Secretions of this gland prevent the semen from coagulating.
  8. In older age, the prostate’s size sometimes becomes enlarged, which creates a problem during urine discharge.
