The bumblebee bat(Craseonycteris thonglongyai) is the smallest mammal in the world.
It weighs less than 2 grams, and its body is about the size of a large bumblebee, giving it the common name “bumblebee bat”.
Bumble bee bat feeds on insects and always resides in caves or limestone outcrops near rivers.
It is predominately found in the caves of Thailand and Myanmar.
For 12 years, the bumblebee bat was listed as endangered species by the IUCN Red List, but in 2008 it was downlisted to the category of vulnerable due to the discovery of new populations, including ones across the Thai border in Myanmar.
