When rainwater falls the water gets absorbed by the soil and is collected under the ground. This is called groundwater.

We are having some sources of ground water are as follows:

  • The main source of groundwater is the rain. The rainwater and water from other sources such as rivers, lakes and ponds, seeps through the ground and fills the empty spaces between the soil and the rocks below the earth.
  • Handpumps or tube wells are used to pump out ground water.
